4 Days of VBS

The Forrest Ridge Church held it's very first VBS this year. It was a success & we had a lot of fun. I helped Tammy with the games outside.

Tammy & I show how to pass a water balloon with plastic forks.

Alexis is stuffing a turtle.

Nolen enjoys snack time.

Nolen poses on the dock. All kids had their picture taken on the dock & received photos of themselves to put in their photo albums.

Danny & Emma have fun. Danny you knew I would put this photo on here.

Pharaoh (aka Danny) had a rough night. He was attacked by hail stones, locusts, boils and many other plagues. Nice crown!

Parkersburg Chowder

Went to the Parkersburg Chowder today. Pete was up early (around 3) this morning to help stir. I forgot to get a picture of the chowder, but take my work for it, it was good. With all the rain last night it was a little muddy, but at least it wasn't as hot as it was last year.

This is always the most popular attraction at the chowder for the kids. They just love to ride in the barrels.

Nolen & Alexis take a ride. Actually they took several rides. Glad it was free!

Nolen decided that he wanted to ride the 4 wheeler instead.

The petting zoo was fun. Nolen needs practice petting the animals, he liked to slap them instead.

Nolen finds a tractor just his size.

Pete, Nolen & Alexis ride in a wagon.

Yum, Yum ice cream!

Nolen finishes mommy's ice cream cone.

Playground fun!

Out At The County Fair!

Nolen found a friend at the fair. He really liked the animals.

More photos of those cute 5 year olds. Bentley & Alexis ride the swings.

Two future Harley riders, I'm sure. Watch out Jarrod & Kathy!

Back of the firetruck, at least it is not the back of a police car.
Alexis has talked about this ride since last year. Her friend didn't want to ride it, so she went solo. She had a blast.
*Guess I didn't get many photos of Nolen. After I got to the fair I realized my camera memory card was still in my lap top. So I was only able to save a few on my camera's internal memory.

Best Friends Forever!

More photos of the cute 5 year olds! Boys beware of these two!
Alexis recently spent the night with her best friend Bentley.

Here they are in bed, but I don't think they did much sleeping. I bet they talked all night.

Vacation

Took a short vacation this week. Went to Cape Girardeau, MO to visit Bryan & Karen Breeding & their 3 kids. Went to a water park on Tuesday & had a lot of fun. I just realized I didn't take any photos of Karen...oops! Drove to Marion, IL Tuesday evening & spent the night in a hotel. After chasing the kids for days, it was nice to confine them to a hotel room. Made it back home on Wednesday and was planning on going to the fair until it rained. Hopefully it won't rain tomorrow because Alexis keeps bugging us about riding the rides. Her best friend will be there tomorrow & they will have lots of fun.
*I picked Summer Nights for the song because Alexis loves to play this song over & over in her CD player. She hasn't seen the movie Grease, just loves the song for some reason.

Marla holding Leah, who is 7 months old.

Alexis & Rachel playing UNO before bed. They slept in a camper with Joseph & Bryan.

Our entertainment for the evening. Nolen starts the guys at the top of the hill.

And the winner is....Bryan. I about died laughing.

Nolen, Joseph, Alexis holding Tiny the kitten, and Rachel.

They give each other a hug goodbye. How sweet!

RIP Mole!

Many of you know that I have been trying to catch a pesky mole all summer. He has been doing a lot of damage to my new flower bed and yard. Today I decided to try and drown the mole out with the water hose. For a while I thought I'd been defeated once again, but I decided to put the hose a little farther back in the run. It wasn't 30 seconds and I saw his little nose. Dug him out with the hoe and whacked him several times. Sorry Megan I just couldn't release him like you did. He had done way too much damage & I didn't want him to come back. Now I realize that there are probably more moles in my yard. But I'm happy with at least getting one for now.
